Cars of 1940 – 1955

In the United States tried it with smaller cars, but had to discover that the Americans had nothing left for this, except the sporty models from Europe. The consolidation of the “Big Three” – the companies General Motors, Ford and Chrysler – had little room for independent brands, because the bargain was a price war erupted. Nash owners undertook a rescue operation for the Hudson Company, and together the two could survive. The Partners Packard and Studebaker had been severe, in spite of the Studebaker throughout “European style”, which is a refreshing change from the massive, chrome-loaded about design of most American cars offered.

In the East Japan went on the star of a new industry, although it is still hardly anyone noticed. Europe took place relatively quickly to the old spirit back. Adventurers, there were nevertheless: Powell Crosley had not by the failure of the Austin 7 in the U.S. to hold and built in the 40s his insistent miniatures.
